And today draft 2 of The Bone Queen slipped past the 40,000-word mark. Which is fairly timely, as I'm at about the halfway point in the narrative. It looks likely that the novel v.2 will land in the 80k-90k region.
~40k in the next two months? I can do that one-handed.
It's self-imposed, but I really want to have a novel ready to submit by the end of 2008. Considering this is mostly a ground-up rewrite, it'll still need a fair bit of editing after draft 2's complete. And I want to write some other things this year as well. (Including, if humanly possible, draft 1 of this novel.)
Good stuff! And 40k good words are totally possible in two months if 50k first-draft words can be done in one.
I *am* replying to you about the stories, but it's taking time to type them out and I have to do it in between essay-writing, so it might be a little while before it's done. But it will be. Yes.
