trailing words from her fingers in streaks across the brick walls

The sunshine makes the temperature irrelevant
I did a very almost-stereotypical writerly thing today: while waiting for my wing mirror to be replaced, I walked into town, went into Starbucks and sat down with my macbook to write. And it was great! The upstairs has plenty of light, wasn't too loud, I didn't connect to the internet, and in the 40 minutes or so I was there I managed to read through about 800 words of already written stuff for The Bone Queen, tweaked it, and then added another 400+ words to it. I should go to coffee shops more often on sunny days like this (well, until the weather warms up and I can sit outside).

I also bought a dress! Dark purple seems to be in fashion at the moment, which makes me very happy indeed. I can wear that dress pretty much year-round, changing what I wear under it for the weather. I need to go back into town to buy a black slip/petticoat-thing to wear under it in winter.

A good start to my weekend! Now (well, after going back into town and then to the gym) I need to push on with a scifi short story I'm hoping to finish and submit to Eclipse Two this month.

there's no name for us, but still we sing
For those who haven't come across it before:

Test and expand your vocabulary while donating rice through the United Nations to impoverished countries! The website is freerice.com and as far as I can tell they're legitimate (and [info]cleolinda links them and she's really good about checking these things out).

So many awesome words there. And you get to help people. (It's great for procrastination.) (Why yes, I am trying to write.)

Masterfade
You took my hand and led me down to watch a papillon parade, and
we let the kittens lick our hair and drink our chalky lemonade.
You squeezed my hand and told me softly that I shouldn't be afraid
'cause all the while your finger's resting gently on the masterfade,
the masterfade.
